My name is Morgan Jerkins and I'm a writer based in Harlem. I have a Bachelor's in Comparative Literature, specializing in late nineteenth century Russian literature and post-war Japanese literature from Princeton University, and an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars.
I am the author of This Will Be My Undoing, which debuted on the New York Times Bestsellers List, became a NYT Editors’ Choice pick, a Barnes & Noble Discover Pick, and was longlisted for the PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. Thankfully, I have two more books, narrative nonfiction and a novel, that is forthcoming from Harper Books.
I am a former Associate Editor at Catapult and currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s MFA Nonfiction program. I’ve contributed to The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Rolling Stone, and ELLE among many others.
I'm represented by Monica Odom of Liza Dawson Associates.
